Revival church held Sunday service on 20/09/2020. The attendance was 25. The title of the message was “Cost of Being a Disciple of Jesus”. The main scripture came from the book of Luke 14:25.
Jesus said to the crowd that if anyone comes to me and does not hate his family, including his own like cannot be my disciples. We need to carry up our own cross and follow him. For example, If you want to build a house, first of all, you should estimate. Measure how much money you have to spend. You should sit down and think about whether you can finish the building or tower. Jesus says do not lay a foundation which you cannot complete.
Luke 14:31, another example, when a king is about to go to war against some other king to fight, he will first sit down and calculate whether should go with 10,000 soldiers to defeat the enemies who are 20,000 soldiers. The wise king will write a report about whether he cannot manage to fight 20,000 soldiers. When he considers losing the battle, he sends forth a letter, to settle peace along the way before the battle starts. Luke 14:34, in as much as salt, it is good to add taste but when it loses its saltiness. How can the salt be made salty again when It loses good taste. Even when the soil is not fit for manure, it is already thrown away.
Matthew 18:21-22, Peter asked Jesus. “Master, how many times should I forgive my brothers or sisters”. He answered that you must forgive them not only 7 times but you must do it 77 times. In conclusion, James Kunda shared that Christians should live a life of forgiveness. We must be ready to show mercy for one another who may have done the wrong thing to them. This is the cost of being a disciple of Jesus.
