Nairobi Gratia church held the Christmas service and pastor Thomas delivered the message related to the Christmas from the book of Luke 2:1-21.
The Bible said “”Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”(Luke 2:14). What does this verse means?
Jesus came through King’s genealogy but he didn’t have space in this world so he was laid at a manger. It shows us that God want to be with us as Jesus came to the lowest place as new born baby. God wanted to bring the peace on the world, sinful and fallen world, so that God can have peace with us.
This good news was delivered to the low level people, shepherds first and the religious leaders at that time. We don’t know the reason exactly, but maybe it’s because shepherds were living with love and pure heart. God sent His only Son Jesus at the small town of Israel as baby, and that was sign to the world that God loves this world and it was the fulfillment of His promise. It is glorious time to us, and to God because it is God’s love for us to be revealed through this time.
Jesus came to this world as the fulfillment of the prophecy of Isaiah 53 and the first African, Ethiopian eunuch was curious Isaiah 53, and he learn from deacon Philip and was evangelized. Jesus came with humble image and carried the sins of the world. Even though he was rich, he became poor for us to make us to be rich in God.(2 Cor 8:9)
We need to meditate this grace as we celebrate this day, this love of God and humility of Jesus Christ, the meaning of “Glory to God and Peace on Earth”
After the message, they had worship and prayer time to rejoice the grace of God and thanksgiving the love.
After the service, the members who joined retreat visited Ngong Hills which is one hour distance from the church. They climbed the hills and enjoyed the nature and prayed on the top of hills.
