Like the disciples who devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, the breaking of bread, and prayer, the fellowships are to continue to meet together at their respective centers with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. With these hearts, the Lord, who added to the number of the disciples daily, will bless and increase their numbers.

What happens when a life receives the filling of the Holy Spirit? Or how is the life lived by the one filled with the Holy Spirit? Leaders from fellowships, Youth Evangelical Fellowship (YEF), Apostolos Missions (AM), Olivet Teens Mission (OTM), and Gospel and Information Technology (GNIT) attended.

The three-day Fishers of Men conferences covered in-depth sharing of the fellowship vision, Faith & Order, administration work, and mission-centered Conferences, like approaches to evangelism, teachings, and discipleship.

Special prayer sessions by the Elim prayer leaders brought precious spiritual nourishment to those in attendance. Special lectures that covered the doctrine of salvation were instrumental in understanding one’s identity as fishers of men.

Through the training, people could experience the deep heart of God’s love, understanding the urgent need to preach the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ to impart the lives of many youth across the continent of Africa.

With renewed hearts, like the Lord sent the 12 and the 72, the fellowships are sent to proclaim the true Gospel, leading many to God’s salvation.

On April 9th, Saint Luke Society Africa conducted its very first online medical webinar in an effort to evangelize medical students in Africa with the theme of hypertension management and the conflict between faith and medicine in the medical field.

The event was promoted using the personal network of the current SLS members in Nigeria and Kenya, as well as on Instagram. Following the active promotion, over 100 participants including medical students and doctors joined the webinar from countries like Nigeria, the U.K, South Africa, Swiss, Ukraine, and Hungary.

The speakers for the webinar include Dr. Oduniyi Olufemi from Nigeria, Dr. Ellen Song from the U.S, and Dr. Joseph Lee from Korea. Each gave a lecture on the theme of the increased prevalence of hypertension, a complication of hypertension, and the conflict between faith and medicine respectively. The participants were very engaged by asking many questions at the end of each lecture and thanked the organizer for the opportunity.

The staff of SLS Africa who organized the webinar testified that it was a great success and miracle having considered that the average participation rate for such events in Africa is very low. To contain those who joined, SLS will send them follow-up emails including the certificate of attendance, SLS ministry book, and invitation to join the ministry. SLS Africa saw hope and great potential for mass evangelism and will continue to host such events. SLS Africa is requesting prayer for the mission revival and its development.

Africa chapter held the second Large group fellowship this Wednesday 9 of March. The attendance increased to 11 from the initial five from last week. Using the Sermon resource, Livingstone led to meditate on Rebirth leading to an overflowing grace from God while Nhle (South Africa) led the program.

Called to reflect on the message and check their life of faith again if they have all gone through rebirth, the members and non-members of the fellowship could realize once again the need to come to Jesus who once we meet begins to reorganize our lives so that we can begin a life newly in God.

One member said, “I pray I don’t miss even one. To fellowship together is always graceful”. Another newcomer said that “I have never experienced any meeting online like this before, the message, the grace, the reflections and the liveliness of the meeting is amazing. I thank God that I was invited and I look forward to the next week’s”.

Those in attendance joined from South Africa, Uganda, Nigeria, and Zambia. Africa hopes and prays for attendance to increase to 40 people by the end of the month. It is a plan for this program to be used as one of the evangelism tools to meet new students as well as recover the hearts of the other members that were becoming cold.

Apostolos Missions Africa invites many youths and students at the university to join and rejoice together in fellowship in the Lords presence

“For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.”Matthew 18:20. On the 19th of February, 2022, a joint prayer meeting that encompassed members of SLS across two continents;Africa and Europe was held online via zoom.

Members of SLS Kenya, Nigeria and United Kingdom ,with the host being the Nigerian Chapter gathered at 12 noon West African Time, to part together into the Lord. The prayer meeting was anchored by Dr. Chris and 20 members were present. Dr Damilola shared a word of exhortation, encouraging members to strive to grow spiritually. The prayer points of the members both those present and absent were supplicated unto the Lord praying in the spirit.

For it is written in 1st Corinthians 14:14-15; “For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unfruitful. So what shall I do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my mind; I will sing with my spirit, but I will also sing with my mind”. The meeting lasted for an hour, with Dr. Peter giving the final words of fortification in the Lord. The presence of the members was highly appreciated as this is the biggest turn out so far for the prayer meetings. We pray that the Lord would grant more grace to our members and help us to keep growing both in the Lord and in numbers and also help us to fulfil the mission and vision of SLS.

Saturday, January 29th 2022 marked the first mini-retreat of the year for the Youth Evangelical Fellowship Africa (YEF Africa). This time, the theme of the retreat was “Resting in Christ” encouraging students to always take time for their busy lives to meditate on the Word of God and come to have a deeper relationship with Him. Overall, the online retreat had eight stable attendants. The retreat was really a joyful time for all the participants and a time of rest in Christ. In addition, two new people joined for the first time, Stecy who was invited by Volunteer Member Maria, and Limbikani, a YEF Zambia student.

The retreat started off with a time of prayer in which the participants were encouraged to prepare their hearts for the messages prepared and to be changed even during this short time. Next was the first Bible study which focused on “Why should we rest in Christ? What are the benefits from resting in Christ?”. The message was shared from Romans 5:1-20 by YEF Africa leader, Anu Samuel and discussed the three main benefits believers get from being justified in Christ. During the Bible study, the students were also reminded of what it means to rest in Christ “It is to have the assurance that everything we need has already been given to us both spiritually and physically, but we need to live this out actively not just deferring from active work.”

After a short time of reflection, the retreat continued with the second Bible study which was focused on Romans 5:1-21, in which the students learned “How they came to rest in Christ”. The Bible study focused on the need for Jesus to die as a propitiation from our sin so we could be free from the root of sin in Adam and have a new root in Christ. The Bible study concluded with a reminder and encouragement for all attendants to remember the things they had learned and live it out in their daily lives. The final program of the retreat was the Special Lecture which focused on What it means to be truly Christian. It was a Q and A based style lecture with participants discussing how they can live as true Christians and what characteristics should they exhibit. Looking at Galatians 3 and Matthew 5, the attendants were able to be guided by the Holy Spirit to live a life born again in Christ.

YEF Africa gives all glory to God for his amazing grace and providence throughout the retreat and prays that the participants were strengthened during their time in attendance. The fellowship prays to be used more powerfully by the Lord to reach out to the African youths and bring them to Christ. YEF Africa plans to continue to hold mini-retreats every month by the grace of God and in the future, they plan to have a hybrid retreat combining both onsite and online participants. Their prayer is that through these retreats, the students may further grow in their dedication to living as true disciples for the Lord. Amen!

Olivet Fellowship leaders in Africa have been urged with urgency to focus on setting up many CMs before the end of 2021 to raise more co-workers. YEF, AM and OTM fellowships currently have RCMs that can be guided and trained and set up as members and send to serve at the OCs.

Africa’s mission is blessed with four beautiful OCs with the capacity to host many members and raise many leaders. The continent acting representative Livingstone relocated to Zambia recently.

“Each of the three fellowships has potential members for commitment lessons, we need to focus on how we can best we can teach, guide, and set them up as CM as possible. Each fellowship should focus on raising people to send them to each of the OCs (South Africa, Zambia, Nigeria, and EAF in Kenya) to support the mission work. Fellowships need to bear fruits and support mission work in Africa well”, Livingstone shared
